Theme 4. Climate, Energy and Water

  • 4A. Mitigation and adaptation
This track seeks to present best practices of mitigation and adaptation programs and research studies and evaluations into this matter. Best practices in this case could be defined as well adjusted to local circumstances, innovative and, if possible, consisting of smart combinations of mitigation and adaptation solutions.
  • 4B. Renewable energy systems and energy conservation
This track focuses on renewable energy systems and energy innovations. In addition, research into business models of viable combinations and integration of renewable and fossil energy generation and energy conservation is welcomed. This includes integrated solutions addressing several sustainability problems at the same time, as well as evaluations on the (complicated) implementation of these kinds of projects.
  • 4C. Sustainable water management
Sustainable water management involves many aspects that depend on the local context in both developing and developed countries. It also depends on local climate change impacts and local land use practices. Although knowledge on these effects is available, it is fragmented and its implementation calls for collaboration and creative interventions. This sub-track seeks original conceptual and methodological contributions, as well as case study research into this matter.
