About ERSCP & EMSU

The European Roundtable on Sustainable Consumption and Production is a non-profit forum that provides a platform to stimulate, develop and disseminate new initiatives aimed at fostering the implementation of concepts involving sustainable consumption and production and approaches within local and regional sustainable development initiatives.

Environmental Management for Sustainable Universities has evolved into a series of international conferences that explore the role of universities in creating new knowledge and attitudes to meet today’s environmental challenges. BEST MASTER STUDENT PAPER AND BEST POSTER WINNERS

The ERSCP-EMSU organizing committee strived to stimulate young researchers. Therefore we have awarded two types of awards during the conference. The first is for the best contribution by a graduate or post-graduate student, the second are two awards for the best poster contribution. The awards consisted of a certificate and a collection of books, including the book "Prosperity without Growth" by keynote speaker Tim Jackson, the book 'longer lasting products' eidted by Tim Cooper and a book from Greenleaf.

The jury for best student paper was chaired by prof. Leo Jansen, and consisted further of prof. Casper Boks, prof. Arne Remmen and Renee Wever. They reviewed the papers and attended the presentations of those contributions that qualified for the award. The requirements were that the paper was based on work by students at the bachelor or master level, and that both the first author and the presenter had to be one of the students.

The winning paper was "Behind the Scenes; Media Industry Stakeholders Collaborating towards Sustainability" by Georgina Guillen, Jennifer Katan and Bin Xu from Blekinge Insitute of Technology, Karlskrona, Sweden. The jury was impressed by the approach taken in the research and the very dynamic presentation during the conference. They reviewed all posters and judged the research that was presented, how appealing and clear it was presented and how well the researcher verbally explained the work. As there were two poster sessions, there were also two best poster awards. The first was awarded to Hogne Larsen of NTNU (Trondheim, Norway) for the poster "Carbon Footprint of NTNU" and the second was awarded to Muralidhar Krishna Reddy and Ritu Sonalika from the Design Circle in Bangalore, India, for their poster "Design Thinking for Re-purposing Used Packaging Timber".
